Vibrant and caring community
Here at Carey we are committed to the notion of ako—being a learning community together, and building a diverse and intercultural community that supports, nurtures and facilitates transformative learning. With our Baptist whakapapa, we expect to encounter Christ in the gathered community. We make space for relationship and conversation. On-site students and staff worship in chapel and eat meals together each week. Distance students have ready access to lecturers by phone, email and video connection. Carey is a supportive community no matter where you are based.
Tuesday Chapel
Central to our weekly life is our Tuesday chapel (11.15am during semester), where the Carey whānau worship together in creative and transformational ways. Speakers include Carey staff as well as leaders from throughout Aotearoa, Australia, and beyond. Chapel is live-streamed on the Carey Facebook page so students can join in from anywhere in the country.
Community Lunches
On Mondays and Tuesdays, Carey students and staff come together for a shared meal in the wharekai. Lively conversation, fabulous food, and fellowship make these times memorable for all who attend. If you are at Carey regularly or if you are visiting for a block course, you are welcome to join us for any of these lunches.
